Luddites and liberals look up at the night sky and say, “I am but an insignificant speck in the midst of an enormous, indifferent universe.” I look up and say, “Wow, all this is for me?”

Depends on what you mean by “American view”. If you mean what “American” has come to mean internationally, as a big bully who muscles his way in where he’s not wanted and takes whatever he likes, then you misunderstand me.
However, if you mean “American” in the sense that America’s founding fathers established the framework of a nation where people would be free to think, to create, and to enjoy the fruits of their creations and to do so without interference from others - others who would expropriate those fruits - then yes, your characterization is apt.
